Jesus said, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

– John 15:5

The JW Discipleship Team has added College & Career to the list of ministries.  We are showing consistent numbers of attendance in Sunday Morning Groups over 200 this year, which increases our average attendance by 50.  Thank you to all the leaders who are utilizing ChurchLife and myJW to verify attendance and submit prayer requests and guest information.

Josh and Chloe enjoy the 1st Taco Tuesday with friends

College & Career Ministry has begun Taco Tuesdays, a monthly gathering for those in their 20s and early 30s to build connections and grow in their faith (Second Taco Tuesday on August 27th at 6:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor)  What an honor to walk with these young adults going through major life transitions and pointing them to the Word of God!

The JW Communications Team updated the front sign since the electronic sign is not functional and cannot be fixed. The team has worked all summer with all ministries to roll out the Doing Life Connected Fall Guide, so everyone can get connected to something.  The JW Kids Ministry has also received an updated look for multiple materials.

The JW First Impressions Team (FIT) teams continue to add new team players. A personal invitation is always the best way to get people to say yes! Each Sunday consists of the same team, which builds a stronger commitment and camaraderie.

The JW Student Ministries has worked really hard to focus more on Christ and His way of doing things. Our new theme for the 2019/2020 is, “A new look a new you.” This theme will shape every event moving forward this year and is referred to in each service. We want our little dub-ers (the students of John Wesley UMC) to take a new or fresh look at Jesus and our hope is that it will produce in them a new connection with God.

They exercised our connection muscle by introducing some new events this year. We connected in a bus, for 6 hours…ok it was really 8, on our way to Orange Beach, AL. for a Summer camp experience that was second to none. Then we connected, by sleeping on the floors of churches and working in the hot sun together at JUMMP and UMARMY. We connected over food, roller-skating, bowling, swimming, Rock climbing and a lot of food in our Summer Small groups. JDub Students were divided in to Sr. High and Jr. High age groups where we were able to speak to them on their different levels. Finally, we officially rebranded the John Wesley Youth department “JDub”, (slang for JW). We have a new logo, and a flag that now goes every where we go. This gives the little Dub-ers an identity that they can connect with and claim.
